MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said in an interview published On Tuesday in the Izvestia newspaper, when speaking about the China-proposed peace plan for Ukraine, that any attempt "to reach a peaceful settlement" is welcome now, but "nuances are important" as well.
"China is a huge, immensely powerful country whose interests not a single actor on the world stage can afford to ignore. China is a country whose voice we hear in all international affairs and problems one way or another. Of course, this voice also needed to sound with the aim of outlining their approaches to Ukrainian issues. And it did happen. China made its voice heard. Any attempt to formulate proposals for reaching a peaceful settlement of the problem is welcome, but, certainly, nuances are important," Peskov said.
"The situation that exists today, above all in Kiev, does not allow us for now to expect that an environment for discussing nuances will emerge," he added.
