MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said in an interview published in the Izvestia newspaper on Tuesday that Western countries' statements made after Russia announced the suspension of its participation in New START demonstrated their uncompromising unwillingness to take into account Russia's concerns.
"Judging by the fact that within an hour after the world heard the [Russian] president's decision, we witnessed official statements from the NATO secretary general [Jens Stoltenberg], the Department of State, and the White House. Of course, this information was sensitive to them. In those statements, we heard quite uncompromising condemnation of Russia and the absence of any readiness to take into account Russia's concerns," Peskov said.
Western countries "stubbornly refuse to hear Putin's words. This only confirms that the president was right when he said that they theatrically demonstrate their unwillingness to hear us, but it will not be this way anymore," he said.
