MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - The achievement of the special military operation's goals is Russia's priority, while no one can guarantee Ukraine's readiness for peace talks for now, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"In this case, the main thing is the achievement of our goals [in the course of the special military operation], this is our absolute priority," Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
As to whether this is a good time for peace talks with Ukraine, Peskov said, "For now, truth be told, I do not think that anyone can see any messages coming from the Ukrainian side. For now, we proceed from the premise of the de jure incapability of the Ukrainian side to hold any negotiations. This is what we proceed from," he said.
"There are certain realties that have become internal to Russia. I mean the new Russian territories, and there is also the Russian constitution, which must not be disregarded by anyone and which the Russian side can never give up," Peskov said.
This is a very important reality, he said. What is more, "there are particular goals of the Russian Federation, which it is achieving in the course of the special military operation," he said.
"Naturally, in case of a favorable turn of events and a proper attitude of the Ukrainian regime, that can be also settled at the negotiating table," Peskov said.
