ROSTOV-ON-DON. April 13 (Interfax) - Unmanned aerial vehicles from the Russian Southern Military District's base in Armenia have accomplished a series of special missions during a preparedness check, which finalized the winter training season, the district said in a statement.
"UAV crews, acting together with artillery units and special ops teams, reconnoitered the area and guided and adjusted fire at ground targets of the mock enemy," the statement said.
The crews successfully deployed and prepared reconnaissance vehicles for launch from hand and catapult, performed a flight in hard-to-reach areas of mountainous terrain, and safely landed the vehicles in challenging highland conditions.
In addition, the crews passed tests on UAV performance characteristics, airspace use and division, and air traffic planning and coordination, the statement said.
