VLADIVOSTOK. April 26 (Interfax) - Landing on an unequipped coast from the Andrei Ivanov amphibious craft of the Russian Pacific Fleet has taken place near Cape Klerk in Primorye, the fleet press service said.
"The exercise involved amphibious landing teams of the Admiral Nevelskoi, Peresvet and Nikolai Vilkov landing ships and the Andrei Ivanov, Ivan Kartsov, D-57, D-70 and D-702 amphibious craft," the press service said.
The Andrei Ivanov took part in the exercise for the first time after being awarded the honorary title of the Hero of Russia.
The ships destroyed a mock enemy's positions on the beach using artillery systems.
The next stage of the exercise involved the fleet's BT-232 and BT-100 base minesweepers, which led landing ships and amphibious craft behind sweeps to the landing area. The minesweepers' artillery destroyed floating mine mockups near the coast. Landing craft put up a smoke screen to cover the landing of marine sappers and assault teams.
At the final stage of the exercise, marines riding BTR-82 armored personnel carriers deployed to the beach from the Admiral Nevelskoi. Peresvet and Nikolai Vilkov landing ships.
