MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax) - The hostile environment around Belarus and Russia makes the two countries develop military relations, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Journalists asked Peskov on Friday to comment on a statement by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko who said that the deployment of Russian nuclear munitions to Belarus had started.
"Just like us, Belarus has found itself in a rather hostile environment. That makes us develop the allied relations, strengthen these relations, which imply a variety of spheres, including further development of our military relations, and this is what we are doing," Peskov said.
"I have said what I have said on this matter," Peskov replied when asked to confirm the start of deployment.
"We know that Belarus has encountered quite unfriendly, to say the least, hostile actions of neighboring states. We have heard quite aggressive comments on Belarus. We have also heard official statements, which declare the intention to interfere in Belarus's internal affairs," Peskov said.
