MOSCOW. July 13 (Interfax) - NPO Energomash has conducted successful trials of the RD-191 engine for Angara launch vehicles, Roscosmos said on Thursday.
"The test facility of the Academician Glushko Energomash Research and Production Association (NPO Energomash), part of Roscosmos, has conducted a successful check and technological test of the RD-191 engine for the Angara rocket family," Roscosmos said.
The RD-191 is a single-chamber liquid-fuel rocket engine powered by kerosene and liquid oxygen.
Roscosmos first deputy head Andrei Yelchaninov said in an interview with Interfax on April 10 that the corporation was finalizing production of an Angara-A5 heavy rocket for its maiden launch from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, and that the rocket would be transported to the launch site as early as September 2023.
It was reported earlier that the inaugural test launch of the Angara from Vostochny was planned for December 2023.
