Russia willing to contribute to efforts to stabilize Central African Republic - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. July 20 (Interfax) - Russia stands ready to continue helping to normalize the situation in the Central African Republic, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov has had a phone call with Central African Republic Foreign Minister Sylvie Baipo-Temon at the latter's suggestion, the ministry said on Thursday.

"During the conversation, the parties discussed relevant aspects of the continued development of multifaceted Russian-Central African interaction [and] placed an emphasis on deeper political dialogue and coordination between Moscow and Bangui's principled approaches at the United Nations and in other international organizations," it said.

"The Russian side expressed a willingness to continue contributing to the Central African leadership's efforts towards stabilizing the situation in the country both on a bilateral basis and as a permanent member of the UN Security Council," it said.

Bogdanov and Baipo-Temon also "touched on various aspects of the preparations for the upcoming 2nd Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg," it said.
