Rostec ready for serial production of upgraded tank destroyer for Airborne Troops

MOSCOW. Aug 14 (Interfax) - State trials of the Sprut-SDM-1 self-propelled anti-tank gun are completed and the gun is ready for serial production, the press service of the High Precision Systems Holding of the Rostec state corporation said.

"State trials of the 125mm 2S25M self-propelled anti-tank gun were completed. All is ready for serial production of the gun," the press service said on the sidelines of the Army 2023 military-technical forum.

"Once the vehicle is included in the state defense order, its serial production will begin," the press service said.

Sprut-SDM-1 will replace the self-propelled gun of the previous modification, Spurt-SD. In the opinion of experts, Sprut-SDM-1 has no foreign counterparts and its fire power is comparable to that of the Russian main battle tank T-90.

The developer said earlier that the upgraded Sprut, designed for the Airborne Forces, might also be of interest to the Marines and the Ground Forces of Russia.
