Russian, Namibian defense ministers discuss military cooperation (Part 2)

KUBINKA, Moscow region. Aug 15 (Interfax) - The dynamics of Russian-Namibian cooperation are positive, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said, describing them as traditionally friendly.

"I am pleased to say that Russian-Namibian relations have acquired positive dynamics in recent years. They are based solely on the principles of mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests," Shoigu said at a working meeting with Namibian Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs Frans Kapofi.

This meeting is yet another step towards the development of bilateral military cooperation, he said.

"I propose that we discuss topical aspects of interaction between the defense ministries of Russia and Namibia," Shoigu said at the start of the meeting.

He described cooperation between Russia and Namibia as traditionally friendly.

"Thank you for accepting our invitation and finding time to visit Russia and attend the Army 2023 international military-technical forum and the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security," Shoigu said.

Kapofi said in turn that Namibia would like to scale up its cooperation with Russia.

Namibia highly appreciates its level of interaction with Russia and wishes to expand bilateral relations further, he said.
