MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Russian forces have repelled attempted Ukrainian offensive actions in the Zaporozhye, Kupyansk, Donetsk and Krasny Liman sectors over the past day, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"In the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continued attempted offensive actions in the Zaporozhye, Kupyansk, Donetsk, Krasny Liman and southern Donetsk sectors," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
Eleven Ukrainian attacks were repelled in the Donetsk sector, alongside six in the Kupyansk sector, and three in the Zaporozhye and Krasny Liman sectors each, he said.
"In the Zaporozhye sector, units of the Russian contingent supported by army aviation and artillery repelled three attacks by assault units of the 82nd Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strategic reserves near Rabotino in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.
Ukrainian forces lost over 200 troops, five tanks, six infantry vehicles, two armored combat vehicles, two trucks and two Msta-B howitzers, he said.
"In the Donetsk sector, units of the southern group of forces, closely interacting with aircraft and artillery, repelled 11 attacks by Ukrainian units near Belogorovka, Razdolovka, Krasnogorovka and Nevelskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR]," Konashenkov said.
In that area, Ukrainian forces lost up to 230 troops, two infantry vehicles, two pickup trucks, six trucks, U.S.-made M109 Paladin and Akatsiya self-propelled artillery vehicles and a D-20 howitzer, he said.
"In the Kupyansk sector, combined efforts by units of the western group of forces [and] strikes by army aviation and artillery repelled six attacks by assault groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 14th and 32nd Mechanized Brigades and the 95th Air Assault Brigade near Novosyolovskoye in the Lugansk People's Republic [LPR] and Olshana and Sinkovka in the Kharkov region," he said.
In his words, Ukrainian forces lost up to 100 troops, two armored combat vehicles, three pickup trucks, a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, Polish-made Krab and Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems, two Slovak-made Zuzana-2 self-propelled wheeled howitzers, a D-20 howitzer, and a U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-mortar radar.
"In the Krasny Liman sector, professional actions by units of the central group of forces [and] strikes by army aviation and artillery repelled three attacks by assault groups of the Ukrainian 68th and 42nd Mechanized Brigades near Novoyegorovka and Kuzmino in the LPR and Vesyoloye in the DPR," Konashenkov said.
In that area, Ukrainian forces lost up to 80 troops, three armored combat vehicles, two pickup trucks and a D-30 howitzer over the past day, he said.
"In the southern Donetsk sector, aircraft, artillery, heavy flamethrowers and units of the eastern group of forces delivered combined strikes on the enemy near Priyutnoye in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.
"The operations of a sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Ukrainian 31st Mechanized Brigade were neutralized," he said.
In that area, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 200 troops, four armored combat vehicles, three trucks, the combat vehicle of a Strela-10 air defense missile system, a Msta-B howitzer, and a U.S.-made AN/TPQ-37 counter-mortar radar.
"In the Kherson sector, gunfire killed up to 35 Ukrainian troops and destroyed three trucks, a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system and a D-20 howitzer over the past day," Konashenkov said.
