Russian Defense Ministry reports destruction of Ukrainian sea drone trying to attack Russian naval ships

MOSCOW. Aug 18 (Interfax) - A Ukrainian sea drone was destroyed as it tried to attack Russian naval ships 237 kilometers southwest of Sevastopol, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"As the attack was repelled, the enemy unmanned boat was destroyed by fire from onboard weapons of [Russian] Black Sea Fleet ships, the Pytlivy corvette and the Vasily Bykov patrol ship, not reaching the target of the attack," the ministry said.

"The ships continue to fulfil their missions," it said.

The attempt to stage an attack with a sea drone was undertaken by the Ukrainian Armed Forces at 10:55 p.m. Moscow time on Thursday, the ministry said.

The targets of the failed attack were Russian Black Sea Fleet ships on a navigation control mission in the southwestern part of the Black Sea, 237 kilometers southwest of Sevastopol, it said.
