VELIKY NOVGOROD. Sept 21 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan understands that legitimate interests and security of Nagorno-Karabakh's Armenian population must be ensured, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"The president said during his phone call with [Azerbaijani President Ilham] Aliyev today and with [Armenian Prime Minister Nikol] Pashinyan yesterday that all legitimate interests and security of Karabakh's residents, its Armenian population, must be ensured. There is such understanding on Azerbaijan's part," he said.
"The Azerbaijani side has initiated negotiations and organized negotiations. Hopefully, this conversation will produce results," he said.
