Baltic Fleet conducts anti-submarine and kamikaze boat drills

MOSCOW. Sept 21 (Interfax) - The Zelenodolsk and Urengoi small anti-submarine ships from the Leningrad Naval Base have conducted an exercise to destroy mock enemy submarines and sea drones, the Baltic Fleet said on Thursday.

"A key element [of the exercise] involved firing mock torpedoes at a submarine target and destroying mock enemy kamikaze sea drones using the ships' artillery weapons," the statement said.

The Zelenodolsk and Urengoi small anti-submarine ships are armed with AK-176 and AK-630 anti-aircraft artillery systems, RBU-6000 rocket launchers and 533mm torpedoes. The ships are also equipped with sonar systems.
