MOSCOW. Sept 22 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has informed his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that there were already some results in the investigation of Russian peacekeepers' deaths in Karabakh on September 20, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website after the two met on the sidelines of the 78th UN General Assembly session in New York on Friday.
"The Azerbaijani delegation has again apologized to Russia for the tragic deaths in Karabakh on September 20 of members of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, having reassured the Russian side of the most thorough investigation being carried out and already yielding its results, and that all those responsible will face the punishment they deserve," the website said.
"The sides discussed the situation in the region with an emphasis on its humanitarian component, and a number of pressing international problems," it said.
Earlier on Friday, Lavrov met with his counterparts from Nicaragua, Hungary, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Bolivia.
