BAKU. Sept 28 (Interfax) - Baku has no part in the exodus of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
"[Baku] has nothing to do whatsoever with the decision of local Armenians from Azerbaijan's Karabakh region to relocate to Armenia or any other country," the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry's allegations about some ongoing "ethnic cleansing" of this ethnic group, "despite Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement on September 21 that there was no direct threat to the civilian population" demonstrates the "inconsistency and duplicity of Yerevan's policy," the statement said.
Armenia should "concentrate on building peace and confidence with Azerbaijan, based on respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, in both words and deeds," it said.
Azerbaijan is determined to reintegrate the region's Armenians into Azerbaijani society and provide them with conditions for a better life, it said.
The Armenian government said on Thursday that more than 68,000 people have now left Karabakh. According to official data, around 120,000 Armenians lived in the region.
