FSB head Bortnikov accuses Western security services of striving to destabilize North Caucasus

MOSCOW. Oct 10 (Interfax) - International terrorist organizations and Western security services are currently active in Russia's North Caucasus Federal District, Director of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) and Head of National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) Alexander Bortnikov said.

"The NAC head noted in his speech that there are active international terrorist organizations and growing threats in this district amid the special military operation. Western security services are still attempting to destabilize the socio-political situation in the North Caucasus," the NAC said following its meeting.

Two terror attacks have been carried out, and another 37 terrorist crimes prevented in the district since 2022, it said adding that these acts were plotted by supporters of the ISIL international terrorist organization (banned in Russia) and individuals recruited by Ukrainian security services.
