MOSCOW. Oct 27 (Interfax) - The Tagansky District Court in Moscow has registered motions filed by the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) against Google for repeated refusals to remove information banned in Russia.
"An administrative motion has been filed with the court in regard to Google LLC, which is accused of an offense defined by Part 5, Article 13.11 (repeated administrative offenses). The hearing has yet to be scheduled," court press secretary Zulfia Gurinchuk told Interfax.
Roskomnadzor motions against Google LLC are mostly caused by its repeated refusal to remove incorrect information about the special military operation in Ukraine, the court said.
If the company's culpability is proven, it will face a fine from 5% to 10% of the overall revenue from goods, work and services sold in the calendar year before the year of the administrative offense.
This is Google's third revenue-based fine imposed in Russia. Russian courts imposed revenue-based fines on Google, which is a part of Alphabet Inc., for repeated violations of Russian laws twice since 2021. In all, the fines amount to about 29 billion rubles. The Federal Bailiff Service collected a part of the money.
