Russian Defense Ministry proposes cutting time for airborne forces personnel to return to service after injury

MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has drawn up amendments to a regulation on medical examination of military personnel, which would reduce the time during which Airborne Forces personnel must resume performing their service dutie s upon receiving treatment after being injured.

A report on the document was published on the federal online database of draft legal acts on Friday.

The bill "is aimed at reducing the time it takes for contract military personnel released from military medical organizations (returning from sick leave) after being wounded (sustaining a trauma, concussion, or maiming injury) or sick to return to their regular military positions" to perform combat missions during mobilization, martial law, or in wartime, to participate in combat actions or in maintaining or restoring international peace and security, or in suppressing international terrorist activities outside Russia.

"Federal law 31-FZ On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization in the Russian Federation dated February 26, 1997 does not provide for a medical examination of military personnel serving under a contract with the Airborne Forces to determine the category of their fitness in line with a particular military specialty," it said.
