TALLINN. Dec 25 (Interfax) - Estonia may start searching for and extraditing Ukrainian citizens eligible for mobilization, who are staying in its territory, Estonian Interior Minister Lauri Laanemets said.
"If Ukraine needs that, Estonia may start searching for this person [refugee] and initiate his extradition to Ukraine. On the whole, we know where such people are and what they are doing. Most of them work and have a place of residence in Estonia," Laanemets told Estonian television.
Although no formal request has been made by Ukraine, the Interior Ministry has repeatedly contacted the Ukrainian ambassador and interior ministry regarding the provision of information about refugees in Estonia if necessary, he said.
Laanemets added that he would submit a written proposal on a related bilateral agreement in the coming days. For now, Estonia can extradite a foreigner exclusively on criminal counts.
Over 7,000 Ukrainian men eligible for mobilization requested temporary protection in Estonia.
