MOSCOW. Dec 25 (Interfax) - "Third" persons are behind the protests in Serbia, the Kremlin said, noting that it is certain the Serbian administration will ensure observance of law in the country.
"The processes and attempts by third persons, including from abroad, to provoke such riots in Belgrade are obvious. It's what we see. We have no doubt that the administration of the republic will ensure observance of law in the country," Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Monday, replying to journalists' request for comment on the situation with the protests in Serbia following the parliamentary elections.
Serbia has domestic legislation, electoral bodies, and also observers, who "have not registered any violations that can call into question the legitimacy of the elections," Peskov said.
"Everything that is happening now is solely an internal affair of Serbia. Serbia has a lawful, legitimate administration, which we are convinced can take all necessary measures. We have never interfered and we are not going to interfere in anyone's internal affairs, especially the internal affairs of Serbia, which is our ally and partner," Peskov said.
