MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - The first launch of the Angara rocket from Vostochny Cosmodrome is scheduled for March next year, Director General of the Roscosmos state corporation Yury Borisov said.
"We are hopeful that we will carry out the maiden launch in March, in the first quarter," Borisov said on the Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television channel on Tuesday, when asked about the timeframe for the Angara rocket's maiden launch from Vostochny Cosmodrome.
This refers to the launch of the Angara A5 rocket.
As previously reported, the maiden launch of the Angara A5 rocket from Vostochny Cosmodrome is to be held in the first quarter of 2024.
The Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center has shipped the Angara A5 rocket from its Omsk branch to Vostochny Cosmodrome, Roscosmos said on December 23.
The first stage of building this new Russian cosmodrome is almost complete as of today, Borisov said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 television channel.
"Flight tests of the Soyuz-2 rocket have been completed, the technical launch facilities have undergone all experimental testing, all required operational documentation has been drawn up, and calculations have been made," Borisov said.
"As for the second stage, its main facility, a launch area for the Angara launch, is almost 100% ready," he said.
There are plans to transfer manned space programs to Vostochny Cosmodrome in the future, Borisov also said.
