Russia's Central Military District holds drills with Iskander missile systems

YEKATERINBURG. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Iskander-M tactical missile systems of Russia's Central Military District have carried out electronic (simulated) missile launches during an exercise in the Sverdlovsk region, the district's press service said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Under the scenario of the exercise, reconnaissance units established the coordinates of an enemy railway junction and hardware repair workshops far from the frontline. Iskander-M tactical missile system units were sent to a designated district, where they deployed the systems from the march on unequipped positions," the statement said.

"At the end of the drills, the Iskander-M systems successfully struck mock enemy key military sites, carrying out electronic missile launches on targets located up to 500 kilometers away," it said.

The Central Military District's missile unit stationed in the Sverdlovsk region practiced destroying a mock enemy railway junction during the exercise, it said.
