MINSK. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Only two checkpoints will stay open at the Lithuanian-Belarusian border after March 1, while traffic of pedestrians and cyclists will stop completely, the Belarusian State Customs Committee said on Wednesday.
"Lithuania is unilaterally stopping traffic of passengers and vehicles through the Raigardas and Lavoriskes checkpoints (adjacent to the Belarusian Privalka and Kotlovka checkpoints) at midnight on March 1, 2024," the committee said.
The Medininkai (Kamenny Log) and Salcininkai (Benyakoni) checkpoints will be open for vehicles, whereas "they will close for pedestrians and cyclists from the aforesaid time at Lithuania's decision," it said.
"Therefore, the Belarusian customs has taken urgent measures to increase personnel of operating checkpoints. For the purpose of faster customs clearance, technical customs control equipment from the closed checkpoints will be moved there," the committee said.
