Top Russian security official meets with Nicaraguan president in Managua (Part 2)

HAVANA. Feb 29 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega met in Managua on Wednesday to discuss cooperation between the two countries' security agencies and economy ministries.

"Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev was received by President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo in Managua. The parties discussed steps to strengthen the multifaceted strategic partnership between Russia and Nicaragua. Separate attention was given to deepening cooperation between their security agencies and ministries in charge of economic issues," the Russian Security Council's press service said.

Later on, Patrushev visited the Russian Interior Ministry's training center in Managua to discuss the prospects for its development and further improvements to its infrastructure.

"The elaboration of new popular training programs and efforts to increase the number of students were highlighted," the press service said.

The center, which opened six years ago, has trained 2,000 officers for the law enforcement agencies of 12 countries, it said.
