BAKU. March 4 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has noted positive dynamics at the Baku-Yerevan peace talks.
"In-person meetings are important for this process. We have recently seen positive dynamics in this area. First of all, I would like to mention a meeting between the Azerbaijani president and the Armenian prime minister organized by the German chancellor at the Munich Security Conference. In general, we assess this meeting positively. It was decided after it that the foreign ministers would continue their meetings," Bayramov said at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
The peace agreement should be permanent in order to prevent additional issues from emerging in the future, he said.
"Azerbaijan started working on normalizing relations with Armenia in January 2021. Azerbaijan declared five fundamental, essential principles in 2022. Armenia accepted the five fundamental principles. The international community also assessed them positively. The document drafted by Azerbaijan and presented to the other side is based on the same principles and formulated consistent with the norms of international law," Bayramov said.
He noted the importance of meetings between Azerbaijani and Armenian delegations to address the peace process, and said there were no peace agreement negotiations in this format for seven months until a meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian delegations in Berlin on February 28-29.
