MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - Over 2,000 police officers and public organizations ensured public order security at the Games of the Future sports event in Kazan, Russian Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk said.
"Public order on the days of the Games of the Future was ensured by some 2,300 police officers, as well as representatives of the Russian Guard Directorate for the Republic of Tatarstan and members of the volunteer people's patrol. Violations of public order were prevented during the events," Volk said on her Telegram channel.
More than 100,000 spectators attended the events, Volk said.
The first international Games of the Future multisport tournament was held in Kazan from February 21 to March 3. It envisaged a combination of traditional sports and computer games.
Two hundred seventy-five teams and more than 2,000 people from 107 countries took part in the competitions. The athletes competed in 21 innovative disciplines and five areas: Sport, Strategy, Speed, Technologies, and Tactics.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Republika Srpska attended the opening ceremony.
