Russian Northern Fleet reports training cruise missile launch by nuclear sub from Barents Sea

MOSCOW. April 4 (Interfax) - The Kazan nuclear submarine has performed a training launch of a Kalibr cruise missile from an underwater position in the Barents Sea at a range in the Arkhangelsk region, the Russian Northern Fleet said on Thursday.

"The sub has accomplished the training launch from an underwater position at a Northern Fleet range in the Barents Sea. The missile was fired at the Chizha range in the Arkhangelsk region," the fleet press service said.

"Surveillance systems confirmed the launch's precision and every flight and technical parameter," it said.

"The crew demonstrated high professionalism and naval skills in preparing and carrying out the launch," the press service quoted Northern Fleet Commander Konstantin Kabantsov as saying.
