MOSCOW. April 4 (Interfax) - Moscow is ready to reach agreements on settling the situation in Ukraine based on a balance of interests and the current situation, it is ready for it any moment, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"Our conscience is absolutely clear, we are defending our truth, the interests of our people in the lands that were founded by their ancestors, where they lived for hundreds of years. And if they want to reach agreements based on justice, based on the current situation, and on a balance of interests in the sphere of security, we are ready any moment," Lavrov told reporters after a meeting with foreign ambassadors on the situation in Ukraine.
"No mediators in the form of the Zelensky formula are needed for that, between readiness for talks and direct start. The process is ongoing, and we are doing what the president said: achieving our tasks, they will be fully achieved. These are tasks without which it is impossible to ensure the security of the Russian Federation, the security of our people," Lavrov said.
"All Western colleagues [of Zelensky's] are now doing everything to promote" his words that peace talks can start without Ukraine's return to the 1991 borders, Lavrov said. "It's funny, it's pathetic. It's a stalemate situation, but it happened through no fault of ours," he said.
