Shoigu as Russian Security Council secretary to supervise Military-Technical Cooperation Service, but not to directly head it - Peskov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax) - Sergei Shoigu as secretary of the Russian Security Council will supervise the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), but will not head it directly, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu will supervise specifically the work of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation. There is no talk of him being the direct chief of this service," Peskov said when asked by Interfax about Shoigu's powers in his new position.

Dmitry Shugayev is the immediate FSMTC chief, Peskov said.

Shoigu was appointed secretary of the Russian Security Council on Sunday. The Russian president proposes that the Federation Council appoint former First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov the new defense minister.
