MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - More than 15 warships and boats of the Russian Pacific Fleet have practiced counteracting sea drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during an exercise in the Peter the Great Gulf in the Far East, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"The ships practiced detecting, identifying and striking targets imitating small seaborne and airborne objects during the drills," the statement said.
The ships destroyed the small seaborne and airborne targets by firing Kord and DShK large-caliber machineguns and AK-630 and AK-630M standard air defense artillery systems at them, it said.
The drills involved the Sovershenny, Gromky and Rezky corvettes, the Admiral Panteleyev large anti-submarine ship, large landing ships, small anti-submarine ships, minesweepers, and missile boats, it said.
"The mock enemy unmanned aerial vehicles were simulated by an experimental drone of the Pacific Fleet's marine aviation, which can take off and land on a ship's helicopter deck," it said.
