Russian Defense Ministry reports practicing transportation of dummy nuclear weapons to missile brigade, airfield

MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - Russian nuclear support units have practiced transporting special ammunition for aircraft and missile systems of the Belarusian Armed Forces, head of the Russian Defense Ministry's 12th Main Directorate Igor Kolesnikov said.

"The Russian and Belarusian presidents have approved the second stage of an exercise of non-strategic nuclear forces. In particular, the exercise included joint training of Belarusian tactical employment units and Russian nuclear support units," Kolesnikov said on Thursday.

Dummy nuclear munitions were brought to field ammo depots in the position area of a missile brigade and an operational airfield for strike aircraft, he said.

"Together with Belarusian colleagues, missiles with special warheads were prepared and released and air-launched weapons were installed on delivery aircraft. Combat duty with dummy nuclear warheads is being practiced," Kolesnikov said.

"The results of every training assignment will be summarized and the areas for further improvement in training non-strategic nuclear forces will be defined at the end of the exercise to guarantee that missions in any military and political scenarios are completed," he said.
