MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - The world is close to the point of no return because of the West's egoism, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"In the end, the egoism and arrogance of Western states have led to an extremely dangerous state of affairs. We have come unacceptably close to the point of no return," Putin said at a meeting with the Russian Foreign Ministry's leadership on Friday.
"The calls for inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia, which possesses the largest arsenals of nuclear weapons, demonstrate the utmost adventurism of Western politicians. They either do not realize the scale of the threat they create by their own actions or are possessed with faith in their impunity and exclusiveness. Both can lead to tragedy," Putin said.
"It was Washington that undermined strategic stability and declared its unilateral withdrawal from the ABM Treaty, the INF Treaty, and the Open Skies Treaty," he said.
"The United States, acting together with its NATO satellites, has destroyed the system of confidence-building measures and arms control in Europe created over decades," Putin said.
