SOLNECHNOGORSK. June 14 (Interfax) - Russia has to move the front line in the Kharkov sector in order to reduce the probability of terrorist attacks on Belgorod, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"With regard to the Kharkov sector where you fought, now you know what is going on there. We are simply forced, in the direction of Kharkov, to push the frontline so as to decrease what effectively are terror strikes on Belgorod, on other settlements," Putin said at a meeting with the Heroes' Time program participants on Friday.
A depth of 10-17 kilometers does not mean the enemy will no longer be able to strike with longer-range weapons, "but it still gradually pushes this threat away from our major settlements," he said.
"It is necessary to proceed neatly, gradually. If the enemy continues to do what it has been doing until now, well then, we shall think what to do next to make our settlements safe," Putin said.
