YEREVAN. June 17 (Interfax) - The relations between Armenia and the United States will be elevated to a level of strategic partnership, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan said on Monday.
"A meeting of Armenia-U.S. strategic dialogue has been held in Yerevan recently. The sides noted visions of deepening relations next year, which will be stated in a memorandum of understanding, elevating the status of bilateral dialogue to strategic partnership," Khachaturyan said at an Armenian-U.S. forum on issues relating to local authorities' democracy.
A positive evaluation was given to Armenia's ambitions to work more closely with the Euro-Atlantic entities and the West, he said.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma, who is paying a three-day visit to Yerevan as a member of a large delegation, attended the event.
