Belarus planning to modify military uniforms

MINSK. June 18 (Interfax) - The Belarusian Armed Forces are planning to modify the military uniforms by broadening their functionalities and cutting dependence on imports, the press service for Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in a statement.

"The Defense Ministry prepared samples of the new uniforms on the orders of the president. The ministry explained the adjustments in terms of global trends, the transformation of training missions accomplished by servicemen, and the need to standardize certain parts of uniforms for various categories of servicemen," the statement said.

The proposed modifications "will broaden the functionalities of military uniforms, make them more comfortable and consistent with the specific features of military missions, improve the looks of servicemen, raise the prestige of military service, end imports of specific materials, and implement new approaches to the design of military uniforms, using modern fabrics made by Belarusian enterprises," it said.

The future uniforms were demonstrated to Lukashenko before a meeting in Minsk on Tuesday.
