Number of injured in Ukrainian strike on Sevastopol rises to 153 - authorities

ROSTOV-ON-DON. June 24 (Interfax) - The number of people injured in the Ukrainian missile strike on Sevastopol has grown to 153, head of the Sevastopol city health department Vitaly Denisov said.

"We have 153 injured people, and all of them have been given medical assistance. Seventy-four are being treated as outpatients, and 79, including 27 children, are in hospital care," Denisov said at a meeting of the Sevastopol authorities on Monday.

As known, the Ukrainian strike on Sevastopol, using U.S. weapons, killed four people including two children. Monday has been declared a day of mourning in Sevastopol. A state of emergency has been declared in the city.

Twenty-one patients, including 11 children, will be transferred to Moscow hospitals from Sevastopol, Deputy Director for Medicine of the Russian Health Ministry's Federal Center for Disaster Medicine Andrei Kolodkin said.

Air defense repelled a missile strike on Sevastopol on Sunday. The Russian Defense Ministry said that the Ukrainian army fired U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles with cluster warheads. Four missiles were downed, and one deviated from its course under the impact of air defense and exploded over the city.
