Four police officers in grave condition after terror attacks in Russia's Dagestan

MAKHACHKALA. June 24 (Interfax) - Most of the police officers injured in the terror attacks in Dagestan are in fair condition, chief physician of the Dagestani Republic Clinical Hospital Gaziyan Musayev told reporters.

"Most of the admitted police officers are in a condition of medium severity. A majority of them will be transferred to the Interior Ministry infirmary for further treatment, while four patients are in ICU, their condition is grave and many of them have had surgery. [...] One patient is undergoing a comprehensive examination to select the treatment tactics," Musayev said.

In total, 16 people, including 13 police officers and three civilians, have been admitted to hospitals, he said.

"The civilians sustained minor shrapnel injuries. Their wounds were dressed and they were released as outpatients. A female patient remains in hospital care for planned surgery. Her condition is of medium severity and causes no concern," Musayev said.

As reported, armed militants attacked a synagogue and a church in Derbent and a church and a traffic police post in Makhachkala on Sunday.

According to the Russian Investigative Committee, 15 police officers and four civilians, including a priest, died.

Six militants were killed.

Criminal cases were opened on counts of committing a terror attack and the illegal procurement, possession, transportation and theft of firearms.

June 24-26 have been declared days of mourning in Dagestan.
