Russian Baltic Fleet ships fire at mock enemy drones, unmanned boats during drills

MOSCOW. June 25 (Interfax) - Russia's Zelenodolsk, Kazanets and Urengoi small anti-submarine ships have held a live-fire exercise as part of tactical drills to practice destroying unmanned aerial vehicles and sea drones, the Russian Baltic Fleet said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The small anti-submarine ships held a series of artillery live-fire exercises against waterborne and airborne targets. Dummy unmanned boats, a small seaborne screen and special illuminating shells served as the targets. Six-barrel 30mm artillery systems and AK-176 artillery systems were used during the live-fire drills," the statement said.

"The units successfully carried out all of their tasks," it said.

The small anti-submarine ships will practice searching for and destroying mock enemy submarines during a scheduled joint exercise at the next stage. They will fire an RBU-6000 rocket system at a simulated underwater target, it said.
