ROSTOV-ON-DON. June 27 (Interfax) - Air defense forces in Sevastopol will be strengthened, the city's governor Mikhail Razvozzhayev told the STV channel on Thursday.
"Very serious work is under way under the control of our Supreme Commander-in-chief to increase protection for Sevastopol and the entire peninsula, as was already done repeatedly [...] Our air defense forces will step up work. Understandably, other measures also will be taken," Razvozzhayev said.
The city's ballistic missile early warning system will be enhanced, he said.
"If our air defense forces mark a launched object as a ballistic missile, the signal should be immediate. Technically, this has been achieved: now, simultaneously with a command to activate the air defense system, the command is replicated without any ringing to the switchboard through the loudspeaker system. With no need to distract the military, our on-duty officer now knows such a threat has been received. Without reporting to anyone, he will turn on the early warning system," Razvozzhayev said.
A separate plain "ballistics" signal has been developed, which too will be sounded through loudspeakers, he said. It signals the need to fleet into shelter within two minutes. The city is at risk of being targeted by ballistic missiles, the governor said on Telegram earlier on Thursday.
