MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to meet with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"Obviously, the SCO summit is a venue they will meet at," Lavrov said on Sunday in response to the Belarus 1 channel's question whether Putin and Lukashenko might meet in person in the near future.
"Our relations of an alliance and strategic partnership are based on reciprocity. Every decision made by the presidents to develop the Union State and its foreign political activity is based on the principle of reciprocity and the balance of interests. Everything we do is for the mutual benefit. Take any field of our work. This is exactly the principle that makes the allied relations between Russia and the Republic of Belarus successful," Lavrov said.
