Azerbaijani, NATO military commanders call bilateral cooperation mutually advantageous at meeting in Baku

BAKU. July 2 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani-NATO relations have a high level, Azerbaijani First Deputy Defense Minister, General Staff Chief Col. Gen. Kerim Veliyev and Deputy Chief of Staff at Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum Maj. Gen. Stefan Fix said at a meeting in Baku on Tuesday.

"The sides noted at the meeting that relations with NATO are being maintained at a high level. The sides stressed that cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO will remain mutually beneficial," the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The North Atlantic Alliance has made a significant contribution to the training of Azerbaijani troops under the NATO Operational Capability Concept, Veliyev said.

In turn, Fix called further development of NATO-Azerbaijani relations important.

"The meeting positively assessed professional conduct of Azerbaijani Army servicemen in peacekeeping missions and other areas of the partnership with NATO. The sides had a broad exchange of views on certain issues of mutual interest," the ministry said.
