MOSCOW. July 9 (Interfax) - Russia and India will study prospects for promoting joint development, production and use of rocket engines, a statement issued following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.
"The parties agreed to explore prospects for advancing cooperation in developing, producing and using rocket engines," the statement published on the Kremlin's website said.
Roscosmos first deputy head Andrei Yelchaninov said in an interview with Interfax on April 10, 2023 that Russia was discussing with the Indian side the scope of RD-191 rocket engines' supplies, hoping to sign a contract in the near future.
Roscosmos CEO Yury Borisov said on March 5 that Russia was actively discussing with India and China the supplies of domestic rocket engines of the RD-171 family, as well as the transfer of technologies for developing advanced engines.
Russia is currently developing the RD-171MV, a new modification of the RD-171 engine. As reported, it will be designed for the promising Soyuz-5 launch vehicle.
The engine's thrust is expected to exceed 800 tonnes, making it the most powerful engine in the world.
