MOSCOW. July 26 (Interfax) - Kurgan Vehicle Plant (Kurganmashzavod) has tripled the supply of infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) since the start of the special military operation, the office of Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said on Friday.
"The supply of light-armored vehicles in the first seven months of this year has topped the 2022 deliveries by 1.5 times, and the supply of fighting vehicles has tripled since the start of the special military operation. Fifty-six percent of the annual fighting vehicle output has already been delivered, some ahead of schedule," the report said.
Manturov made a working visit to Kurganmashzavod, which is the only manufacturer of infantry fighting vehicles in Russia.
Kurganmashzavod "assumed additional obligations to supply BMP-3 fighting vehicles above the volumes envisaged by the schedule this year," the report said.
According to the office, Kurganmashzavod is now implementing a large-scale capacity modernization program, with the plant's headcount increasing by more than 3,000 people over the past two years. In particular, this is due to competitive wages, which considerably exceed the regional average. In 2023, the average wage at defense enterprises was almost 90,000 rubles, reaching about 105,000 rubles as of May 2024.
Manturov also visited another defense enterprise, Kurganpribor, where he inspected a casting workshop and a mechanical processing facility and was shown dozens of new products, the report said.
