MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - The 235th Garrison Military Court has placed the Russian Defense Ministry's Innovative Development Department head Maj. Gen. Vladimir Shesterov under house arrest, the court press service told Interfax.
"The court has placed Shesterov under house arrest," the press service said.
The court issued the ruling on Wednesday.
According to the Kommersant newspaper, investigators filed for house arrest instead of incarceration at a pretrial detention facility with "due account of the health condition" of Shesterov.
The Russian Investigative Committee said on August 5 that Shesterov and Patriot Park Director Vyacheslav Akhmedov had been detained.
Both were charged with major fraud.
Investigators suspect the defendants of embezzling public funds assigned for operation of the Patriot Park and Convention and Exhibition Center.
Akhmedov was arrested at the investigator's motion.
