FSB, Russian National Guard must effectively counter Ukrainian sabotage groups in border areas - Putin

MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Russian National Guard to ensure measures as part of the ongoing counterterrorist operation in the Kursk region and effectively counteract sabotage groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"The Federal Security Service together with the Russian National Guard must ensure the counterterrorist operation and the effective fight against the enemy's sabotage and reconnaissance groups," Putin said at a meeting on the situation in the Kursk region on Monday.

The National Guard also has its own combat tasks, he said.

Putin also tasked civilian agencies, including industry, transport, the construction sector and medicine, with supplying all military and security services taking part in the operation with everything they require.

A key element of this work is to "focus on the main task, which is providing support to our people," he said.
