BELGOROD. Aug 12 (Interfax) - Between 50% and 70% of residents of the town of Shebekino in the Belgorod region have left it amid ongoing attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Belgorod region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

"The hardest situation is currently in Shebekino; it's 38,000 people in the town [population] and 85,000 in the district. Nearly 300 people have been injured in 2024 alone, and 36 people have died," Gladkov said at a videoconference hosted by the Russian president on Monday.

"We don't have all the information, but by our estimates, around 50% to 70% [of the residents] of the town of Shebekino have left its territory now," he said.
