MINSK. Aug 14 (Interfax) - Optical devices for reconnaissance robots are among Belarusian defense industry products presented at the Army 2024 international military-technical forum, the Belarusian state-run television channel Belarus 1 said on Tuesday.
"The Belarusian optics industry's capabilities have been widely presented [at the forum]. For example, the Manul observation device is a pair of binoculars that can spot a live target at a distance of eight kilometers," committee department head Dmitry Stefanovich said on Belarus 1 TV channel.
"They will be mounted on specialized remote-control tracked platforms. Such a reconnaissance robot will literally serve as a second pair of human eyes," he said.
"These are long-distance 'eyes' combining a thermal imager, a night channel, and a laser rangefinder," Stanislav Shestak, leading research engineer at BelOMO, the Manul developer, said.
