Moldovan woman among people killed in Tuesday's terror attack in Israel

CHISINAU. Oct 2 (Interfax) - A Moldovan citizen was among the people killed in Tuesday's terrorist attack in Israel, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry's press service said on Wednesday.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova expresses deepest regret over the death of the female citizen of Moldova as a result of the act of terror that took place in Jaffa, Israel in the evening of October 1. The ministry offers sincere and deepest condolences to all the families of people killed in the bloody terror attack that took seven lives and occurred simultaneously with the strike on Israel by Iranian ballistic missiles," the ministry said in a statement.

The Moldovan embassy to Israel "is in constant contact with local authorities and expecting an official confirmation of the killed woman's identity," it said.

"Our diplomatic mission is also ready to provide all necessary consular assistance to the victim's family and friends," it said.

According to Israeli media reports, on Tuesday night, two terrorists armed with firearms opened fire on tram passengers and pedestrians in downtown Jaffa, killing seven and wounding another 16 people. Along with the Moldovan citizen, there were nationals of Georgia and Greece among those killed in the terrorist attack.
