MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax) - Another Yars intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) has been put into a silo at a base of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) in central Russia, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"A Yars intercontinental ballistic missile was loaded into a silo launcher in the Kozelsk missile division in the Kaluga region," the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
"The implementation of the planned measures to rearm the Strategic Missile Forces will help increase the share of state-of-the-art strategic missile systems and enhance the group's capabilities to carry out its missions," it said.
The ministry also released video footage of the missile's transportation and placement into a silo on Thursday.
Earlier, the Defense Ministry said that the Kozelsk division became the first in the Russian Strategic Missile Forces that is being rearmed with silo-based Yars missile systems.
It was officially said that silo-based and mobile Yars ICBMs are the core of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces.
According to official information, Yars missiles with maneuverable independently targeted reentry vehicles can hit targets at a top range of 11,000 kilometers.
